Vaccination in Cardiovascular Disease: New Review Highlights Prevention Opportunities

Vaccination in Cardiovascular Disease: New Review Highlights Prevention Opportunities

November 1, 2025

A recent article published in CJC Open examines the role of vaccination as part of cardiovascular prevention strategies for patients living with heart disease. The review discusses how respiratory infections such as influenza and COVID-19 can increase the risk of cardiovascular complications and highlights the potential benefits of vaccination in reducing these risks.

Using case-based examples, the authors outline practical considerations for clinicians and explore how vaccination strategies may be incorporated into cardiovascular care for patients with established heart disease.

The article contributes to an evolving discussion about the role cardiologists can play in supporting broader preventive strategies that improve outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
