Dr. Richard Davies is Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Davies obtained his PhD in Physiological Psychology from McGill in 1976 and his MDCM from McGill in 1980. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at University of Toronto, Cardiology at the University of Ottawa and in Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in 1984, and of the American College of Cardiology in 1987, and has been a Cardiologist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute since 1986.
Dr. Davies has taken part in many of the Landmark Trials that have shaped cardiovascular care in areas of Cardiac Arrhythmia treatment, cholesterol lowering therapy, revascularization and treatment of myocardial ischemia, the treatment of congestive heart failure, cardiac secondary prevention and the treatment of cardiac patients with diabetes. He has served on CHIR and HSFA grant committees, and was co-Chair and Chair of the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Clinical Research Committee.
